Navigation

Navigating the App

Two persistent navigation elements are visible on every screen.

🔝 Header Bar

System-level controls and status at a glance.

Menu — Opens the side navigation drawer

App Logo — Tap to go home

Layout Chip — Active layout — tap to switch

Device Status — Connected device count

User Profile — Account menu

Emergency Stop — Immediately halts all trains

🔽 Bottom Navigation

Color-coded icon buttons for quick access. Customize which items appear in Settings.

Effects — Lights, WLED scenes, and sounds

Connect

Open Throttle in your browser. The home screen shows your EX-CommandStation's connection status. Green means you're ready to go.

Add a Locomotive

Tap the + button on the throttle list to add a locomotive to your session. Enter the DCC address and a name.

🔢Enter DCC address (1–9999) and locomotive name

🏷️Assign a road name (BNSF, UP, CSX, NS, and more)

🖼️Set an image for the locomotive avatar

⚡Appears immediately in the throttle list

Build a Consist with EZ Consist

Link multiple locomotives into one consist and drive them as a single train — no CV programming, no decoder address math.

Control Speed & Direction

Everything you need to drive. Set speed, change direction, and stop — all from one screen.

🎚️Speed slider (0–126 DCC steps) on desktop/tablet

🔘5-button speed controls (+5, +1, Stop, −1, −5)

↔️Direction — REV / IDLE / FWD (zero speed only)

🛑Brake control (0–10) for gradual deceleration

Choose Your Throttle Style

Pick the control style that matches how you operate, from Settings → Throttle → Throttle Type. It applies to every locomotive, and every style shares the same speedometer, function dial, and consist indicator.

🔘Buttons (default) — five-button speed control, big and simple

🎚️Slider — vertical speed slider with a forward/reverse lever

🎛️Dashboard — skeuomorphic control stand with LCD, brake, and headlight knobs

🕹️Proto — lever-based faceplate inspired by the ProtoThrottle handheld

Use Functions

Tap the function button to open the speed dial. Toggle lights, horn, bell, and 30+ decoder features — or tap Edit to remap them right from the throttle.

🎛️Speed dial with up to 32 function buttons (F0–F31)

🔧F3–F31: Decoder-specific (brake, coupler, sounds)
